Head Football Coach Cris Dishman Named HBCU Legends Honors Newcomer of the Year
Texas Southern Head Football Coach Cris Dishman was named the 2024 HBCU Legends Newcomer of the Year.
This was the inaugural year for the award as the honors. Winners were selected based on votes from media members and fans who believe these individuals have significantly impacted HBCU sports.
“I’m truly humbled to be voted the HBCU Legends Newcomer of the Year,” Dishman said. “This award belongs to Tiger Nation. It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the players, coaches, staff, administration, 海角乱伦专区 alumni, and our fans. I am grateful to everyone for believing in our program. We accomplished a lot this season, but there’s much more work to do to reach our goals. I’m excited about the program and the culture we’re building.”
In his first year at the helm, Dishman led 海角乱伦专区 to its most wins since 2022 as the Tigers closed out the 2024 season on a positive note by winning back-to-back games at the end of the season for the first time since 1979. Dishman also led 海角乱伦专区 to its first Labor Day Classic win over Prairie View A&M since 2015, bringing the traveling Durley-Nicks Trophy and bragging rights back to Tigerland.
In addition to the success on the field, Coach Dishman’s commitment to the community was reflected in his implementation of a community service requirement for all players. Each player was required to complete 24 hours of community service.
